Books on the Move is a mobile bookstore offering literature for dancers, movers and thinkers. Based in Berlin, it was founded in Spring 2008 by Agnès Benoit-Nader. As of today we have books in English, German and French. Titles in other languages are yet to come and we welcome your suggestions.

The idea behind this traveling bookstore is to be present in as many Berlin dance festivals and venues as possible and to offer an online shop. Our purpose is to make dance literature available to anyone interested in the study of the body and of movement. The wealth of books available includes texts by dancers writing about their experience, scholarly essays on contemporary performance, and beautiful works on experiential anatomy.

Movement with an emphasis on contemporary dance is at the core of Books on the Move. This is the starting point for our little shop, as it is Agnès’ own background. But as our business grows we look forward to gathering more literature from various dance forms, bodywork techniques, as well as books from other art forms that are in dialogue with dance.

Books on the Move reflects the mobility and nomadic way of life of dancers.
